Academic Council Meeting Is Held at The Faculty of Engineering

An Academic Council meeting is held at the Engineering Faculty of Kütahya Dumlupınar University. The meeting is attended by Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Arif Özgür, Dean of the Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Cengiz Karagüzel, Quality Coordinator Dr. Figen Karaferye, Deputy Quality Coordinator Lect. Latife Sürsavur Demirel, and the academic staff of the Engineering Faculty.

During the meeting, the goals for the 2025–2026 academic year are evaluated, and the topics of academic instruction, scientific research activities, and quality initiatives are discussed.

Prof. Dr. Özgür: Opening the meeting, Prof. Dr. Özgür refers to the faculty’s recent achievements in scientific publications and projects. He emphasizes that the high-quality research published by faculty members in national and international indexes contributes to the academic visibility of the university. He highlights the importance of industry collaboration and interdisciplinary projects. He also mentions the Institutional Accreditation Program (IAP) process, stressing that strengthening the quality culture at the department level directly contributes to the overall performance of the university. He states that the IAP process is not only an evaluation but “a developmental journey reflecting the institution’s continuous improvement culture,” and he thanks all academic personnel for their contributions.

Prof. Dr. Karagüzel: The Dean of the Engineering Faculty, Prof. Dr. Karagüzel, states that quality and continuous improvement remain at the core of the faculty’s academic activities. “As the Engineering Faculty, we move forward with the principles of educational excellence, research innovation, and societal contribution. We consider quality processes not merely as reporting obligations but as an integral part of our institutional development,” he says.

Dr. Karaferye: Quality Coordinator Dr. Karaferye provides information about the IAP carried out by THEQC and explains all external evaluation processes our university has undergone since 2018. She emphasizes that the effective implementation of the PDCA (Plan–Do–Check–Act) cycle in all units establishes a sustainable quality culture. She outlines the expected actions from the academic departments during the IAP process, the evidence-based reporting approach, and examples of continuous improvement practices. She also explains what to expect during IAP audits.
